Healthspan: Living Longer in Good Health

Healthspan is the number of years you live in good health — free from chronic illness, serious disease, or major physical limitations. It is different from lifespan or longevity, which simply measures how long you live. You can have a long lifespan and a short healthspan. The gap between the two is called sickspan — the years you spend in poor health. These are the years that preventive health strategies can meaningfully reduce.

Healthspan vs lifespan — what’s the difference?

What shapes your healthspan?

Healthspan is not determined by genetics alone. Research consistently shows that lifestyle factors have a significant influence on how many years you spend in good health. These for example include how you sleep, move, eat, manage stress, nurture your relationships, and plan your long-term health trajectory. And the earlier you engage with them, the greater the effect.

At Health2Wealth, we work across six pillars that together shape your healthspan: Sleep, Mental Health, Social Connections, Nutrition, Physical Activity, Health Planning. Explore our 6 Pillars of Lifestyle.

Healthspan in Switzerland — where we stand

Switzerland consistently ranks among the countries with the highest life expectancy in the world. But high lifespan does not automatically mean high healthspan.

The 13-year gap between average Swiss lifespan (84) and average Swiss healthspan (~71) tells a more complex story. A significant portion of the population spends the final years of their life dealing with chronic illness, reduced mobility, or serious disease. These conditions are in many cases preventable or delayable with the right approach to health earlier in life.

Our role in extending healthspan in Switzerland

Healthspan does not improve by accident. It improves through awareness, community, and sustained action.

Health2Wealth exists to make that possible. We bring together the researchers, clinicians, financial planners, coaches, and engaged individuals who are leading this shift, and we translate their knowledge into events, education, and practical tools that people in Switzerland can actually use.

Our goal is concrete: extend the average healthspan in Switzerland by 5 years. Not through a single intervention, but through a movement that makes proactive, preventive health management a natural part of everyday life.
