When I was 20, my poor health started interfering with my daily life. By 24, it had slipped further, and my doctor told me I am pre-diabetic and have other underlining health issues. I may not make it to 50, is what I was told. I watched my parents struggle with their health for years, from diabetes to cancer. My doctor confirming that I was headed down the same path, was my wakeup call. It hasn't been an easy journey, but it's definitely been worth it.
I get bored with conventional exercise like running, and lifting weights. With my mindset I like to be distracted during exercise, as I find it keeps me going longer, especially if I'm enjoying what I’m doing! So, I started livings very active lifestyle hiking and playing basketball at the local parks on my morning walks. Find something you love that gets you motivated and active. And share your story with me, I’d love to hear!
For me the gym is a place where I get ready for adventures. My eye is not on the elliptical. It is on the mountains I will climb and the rivers I will ride. My hope is that in sharing my adventures with you, I will inspire you to find your own adventures. Let's keep building our health and wealth together.
